Waimea Canyon

Yes, a color image. I do shoot them from time to time.

I took this back in March of 2019 at Wiamea Canyon on the island of Kaua’i but, when I got home and viewed it on my computer, was never entirely happy with the composition as it had so much sky in it that just didn’t feel right. Why it took me 3-1/2 years to simply crop it down to eliminate the sky altogether remains a mystery.

I do have to thank Peter McKinnon and Benjamin Hardman for a short video they put out this past week which confirmed a process I had been using for a long time (embracing the use of as many masks in Lightroom as you feel are necessary) and which brought this image back to life.

And, yes, I am still working on an overall site re-design…
