Tattoos

This page is a work in progress…

For the longest time I had always told myself and others that if I found the right design I would consider having it tattooed on myself. After I turned 36 I decided that getting a tattoo, like almost anything else that we might wish to do, was something that you either just did or it would never happen. With this in mind, and not having been through the process before, I set about looking at designs. For the first one I wanted to keep it simple and discreet.

Over the course of a couple of months and a number of rough sketches, I managed to produce a drawing on sketch paper that I was happy with. It was, like so many other people’s first tattoo design, a tribal design.

This is that design:

A western tribal design to be more specific. Western tribal designs are distinguished from other tribal designs, such as Native American, Polynesian, Maori or Haida, in that they are more free-form designs with little or no historical or cultural meaning. Not being of or wishing to promote a particular tribe, this seems to me to be the way to go.
