I have since lost track of the number of times this (or a link to it) was sent to me. The message was always the same: ”Look at this…”, “I would never…”, etc.

To most people this was the most preposterous thing imaginable. Using a communications device as a kitchen gadget? Who would do that?

To others this is inspiration and “look at this” becomes “LOOK AT THIS!” and takes on a completely difference meaning. Jae-Wan Jeong is one of those people.

Some time ago I created a post which drew some ire from the Bitcoin faithful. To this day I still do not get what all the hubbub was about it, except for the anonymous nature of both the “currency” and the transactions which could be made with it. Unless you are trying to buy something which is of questionable nature (a subject I will not go into again), making anonymous transactions seems to have little practical use. Regardless, my brief experiment with Bitcoin was likely for naught as it appears that many of the big supporting sites had been compromised at one point or another last year. I guess I should attempt to log in to my MtGox account one of these days to see what still might be there

It’s been awhile since I’ve read a copy of Wired (or any other print magazine for that matter), so I missed this article from its December issue.

It’s that time of the year again and the leaves are starting to fall. Ever wonder about those leaves and what kinds of trees they might be from? Now you can use your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch to learn more about them.

TreeID from MEDL Mobile will teach you the name (common and scientific), physical attributes (bark, leaves, fruit) and geographic locations of almost any tree in North America. Created by MEDL Mobile’s App Incubator and based on an idea from Jason Siniscalchi, a PhD in Forest Resource Science.
